7 states to weigh in on Lapels Dry Cleaning Annual Clothing Drive to benefit Big Brother/Big Sister, May 2 – May 17

April 29, 2015

Clothing-Drive-2015In what’s become an annual tradition, Lapels Dry Cleaning will host its clothing drive to benefit Big Brother/Big Sister organizations starting May 2 and running through May 17. Lapels Dry Cleaning stores in Arizona, Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey and Rhode Island will be accepting clothing donations during this time period.

“Lapels clothing drive to benefit Big Brother/Big Sister organizations has grown each year we have done it, with last year’s taking in nearly 10,000 pounds of clothes. That’s about the equivalent of $10,000,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels Dry Cleaning. “From the very first drive we held three years ago, Lapels Dry Cleaning customers have been extremely generous and we’re hoping to top the 10,000 pound mark with this year’s drive.”

Starting May 2 and running through May 17, Lapels customers and the general public are welcome to donate any gently used clothing items, including:  Men’s, Women’s and Children’s clothing, coats, jackets, shoes ( any season or size). Household items such as linens, sheets, blankets, towels, drapes, comforters, afghans, curtains, fabric and purses are also accepted.

Clothes collected by Lapels Dry Cleaning will be donated to Big Brother/Big Sister and in turn will then be sold by high-end thrift stores. The net proceeds from those sales are donated towards Big Brother/Big Sister mentoring programs for young girls and boys.

“This annual clothing drive is something our customers look forward to because it kills two birds with one stone. On one hand, they get to help a very worthy cause raise money without it costing them a dime out of their pocket. On the other, they’re removing unwanted items from their home. It’s the proverbial win-win,” said Dubois.
