THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPER WEDDING GOWN CLEANING
Most brides want to preserve their dress as a lifetime keepsake or
family heirloom to pass down from generation to generation.
It is imperative that any garment is cleaned before long-term storage.
The dress may have invisible stains from food, beverages, body oils
and cosmetics that may become permanent if not properly cleaned.
With proper care, any wedding gown will remain a well-preserved keepsake.
" Have the gown professionally cleaned and packaged in a special
preservation box
" Store your preserved gown in a cool, dry place - not in a basement
or attic. Dampness can cause mildew and heat can cause yellowing.
" If you are storing long-term on a hanger, sew straps to the waistline
to relieve pressure on the shoulders. Wrap the dress in a protective
white sheet or muslin covering
" Stuff the bodice with white acid-free tissue paper to prevent
wrinkles
" Inspect your gown from time to time during storage. Stains not
initially apparent could appear later and should be attended to immediately |
